Quirky Movie & TV Series Your Brain Will Love

It only makes sense that our quirky minds would be drawn to creative media. Case in point are quirky and unusual move and TV series. I figured that I wasn’t the only one with a sense for the unusual.

Here are my favorites. Don’t worry, it’s not a requirement we like the same things. In fact, I would love it if you shared your favorites with me!

Twin Peaks

This is oozing with quirkiness! From Agent Cooper’s obession with “damn good coffee” to the unraveling of strange characters of the fictional Twin Peaks, Washington, this does not disappoint.

I’m with the rest of the fans, David Lynch enters into some pretty strange territory, especially at the end of the series. Although Lynch seemed to struggle with wrapping up the series, the original episodes are binge-worthy!

The God’s Must Be Crazy

It might take a very special sense of humor to appreciate this comedy. The plot surrounds a tribesman in the Kahlahari Desert encountering modern civilization. Roger Ebert of the Chicago Sun-Times gave the film three stars out of four, concluding that “it might be easy to make a farce about screwball happenings in the desert, but it’s a lot harder to create a funny interaction between nature and human nature. This movie’s a nice little treasure”.

Living With Yourself

This movie, starring Paul Rudd, involves his characters, through strange circumstances, getting a clone of himself. This was released by Netflix in 2019.

My brain loved the unusual story line, how the cloning was done, and then Rudd’s challenge of dealing with the second copy of himself. It was a nice little intriguing movie.

Faraway

In another Netflix-released movie, after inheriting a house on a Croatian island, a woman embarks on a spur-of-the-moment trip that reignites her joy in life and opens a door to new love.

I was intrigued by what appears to be a mid-life crisis for Zeynep, who is unhappy. She ends up making radical choices that change the direction of her life.

Conclusion

Wasn’t this fun? These are just off the top of my head. I’ll add more as I think of them. If you like the quirky and strange, leave a few of your favorites in the comments below!
