Clever Business Names That Tickle My Brain

During my random driving thoughts, I was thinking about hair salon names. They are all quite clever – no one disappoints. My mind also wandered to the less-inspired names – quite the opposite.

I find the lack of trying to come up with a good name for a business appalling. How about you? Do you find your brain turning and taking notice of a business that has done their job well? Or are you struggling to name your own business?

It may be foolish to name a business to please the ADD/ADHD segment of customers. Would I choose one well-named business over the less cleverly-named one? Sure, it happens all the time. Not just me, but with a lot of other customers.

Note: Writing about hair salons on this site isn’t really random. The point I’m making is how my brain is obsessed with clever names and word play.

Naming a business is big business

Branding a business covers everything from name selection, logo, to mission statement. There are consult businesses that exist just for this. They charge thousands of dollars to come up with a unique brand that no one else has (they also check copyright laws).

Guess what? Sometimes they fail. I was privy to the naming discussion of one company. I had no say, but as the wife, I sure had an opinion.

Turns out the name choice ended up being mis-pronounced – often. Yep. Lot of money spent. The good news is that the company was absorbed by another one – it was another chance for the key decision-makers to redeem themselves.

My first recommendation is to get varied opinions (male and female).

Take a lesson from hair salons

New hair salons names provides great fun for me. These guys and gals are creative, no doubt:

  • Mane Event
  • Mane Attraction
  • The Hairloom
  • Hairitage Salon
  • Shear Wonders
  • Shear Magic
  • Shear Class
  • Hair Affair
  • The Wave Length
  • A Cut Above
  • The Cutting Edge
  • Tangled
  • Yankee Clipper
  • The Cut Hut
  • Foiled
  • Hair Today Gone Tomorrow

I am fascinated with the endless possibilities. Just when I think they’ve run out of names, I discover another cool, new one.

In sharp contrast. My creative hungry brain dies inside a little bit:

  • MLB Tax and Accounting
  • EJD Accounting
  • D & K Sales and Service
  • AKS Parts and Repair
  • B B Sales
  • R and R Auto

And there you have it, folks. The difference between left brain/right brain thinking owners. This list just makes me want to cry. Even “Bright Spot Car Wash” is music to my ears.

Creative business names through AI

Obviously, the owners of this business don’t care at all about their name. If you do and are lacking originality, try out GPT Chat or Microsoft Co-Pilot.

I just punched in “creative tax accounting names” and came up with this:

Here are some inventive (unedited) names to inspire your tax accounting venture:

  1. Ledger & Loopholes

There is no excuse for lack-luster business names! Now go forth and leave the world better than you found it! -Renee
